The Friends of Coal is a volunteer organization that consists of both West Virginians and residents from beyond our borders. Membership is free and the level of
involvement by members is at their own discretion.

The Friends of Coal is dedicated to inform and educate West Virginia citizens about the coal industry and its vital role in the state's future. Our goal is to provide
a united voice for an industry that has been and remains a critical economic contributor to West Virginia. By working together, we can provide good jobs and

With the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, Congress created
the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to ensure
safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by
setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach,
education and assistance.

Organization

OSHA is part of the United States Department of Labor. The
administrator for OSHA is the Assistant Secretary of Labor for
Occupational Safety and Health. OSHA's administrator answers to the
Secretary of Labor, who is a member of the cabinet of the President of
the United States.
